Bonjour.
Pour quelle obscure raison les anglophones sont-ils incapables de faire la différence entre who et whom sans un kilomètre (*) d’explications tout en sachant faire la différence entre he et him sans hésiter, même la tête sous l’eau, alors que c’est exactement le même problème ???
Mystère et boule de gomme.

Le paragraphe sur l’utilité de la différence entre who et whom est très révélateur, je trouve.
«Whom ne présente pas d’utilité véritable à notre langue. Il n’exprime pas une idée plus clairement ou plus efficacement que par le simple usage de who»
Une fois, en conversant avec des anglophones, je me suis aperçu d’une chose : Ils ont une définition très particulière de la grammaire.
Nous croyons que la grammaire est le moyen de définir le rapport entre tous les mots d’une phrase, de façon que son sens soit le plus clair possible, sans que l’interlocuteur soit obligé de deviner ce qu’on veut dire par la simple juxtaposition de tous les mots qui la composent :
«interlocuteur obliger pas deviner vouloir dire quoi juxtaposition simple mots composer»
Mais pour un anglophone, la grammaire, ce n’est pas cela du tout.
Pour un anglophone, la grammaire, c’est ce qui fait qu’une phrase a l’air d’être dite par une personne intelligente plutôt que par un imbécile.
Pour un anglophone, l’empilage anarchique des mots «Iran cool to Obama re-election win» (dans le titre d’un article de journal) est plus grammatical que «Jerome devoted himself to scriptural studies, for which he learnt Hebrew.», parce que depuis qu’ils ont oublié que le passé de «learn» était «learnt», ils trouvent qu’on a l’air d’un con si on dit pas «learned», et pour un anglophone, avoir l’air d’un con, c’est pareil que de ne pas savoir la grammaire.
